India’s celebration of their T20 World Cup 2024 victory was a historic event, brimming with excitement and pride. The festivities began the moment the team landed back home, starting with a special breakfast hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The celebrations continued with a grand victory parade that culminated in a prize distribution ceremony at Wankhede Stadium. Among those who couldn’t help but join in the excitement was billionaire Anand Mahindra.
A Sea of Fans and a Viral Moment
In the midst of the vibrant celebrations, a viral image of Team India’s bus surrounded by a massive crowd at Mumbai’s Marine Drive caught Anand Mahindra’s attention. Known for his witty remarks, Mahindra suggested renaming the iconic tourist spot from “Queen’s Necklace” to “Jaddu Ki Jhappi,” reflecting the overwhelming love and support from fans.
Surya Kumar Yadav’s Heartfelt Response
Indian cricket star Surya Kumar Yadav, known for his engaging social media presence, responded to Mahindra’s tweet with enthusiasm. Retweeting Mahindra’s post, he wrote, “Kya baat keh di sir,” accompanied by a hug and heart emoji. Mahindra, in turn, praised Yadav’s stellar performance, saying, “A very well deserved jhappi @surya_14kumar. Since you all have shown us how to reach for the Sky… …from where you plucked an impossible catch.”
Mahindra’s Praise for BMC’s Clean-Up Efforts
Beyond celebrating the cricketing triumph, Anand Mahindra also lauded the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for their swift action in cleaning up the city post-parade.
Despite the massive crowd leaving behind a trail of trash and discarded slippers, the BMC efficiently restored order. Retweeting a user’s appreciation for the BMC, Mahindra commented, “Well said Vaibhav. I couldn’t agree with you more. I was wondering how long the cleanup would take. The team at @mybmc obviously worked through the night to clear all trace of the massive parade. THIS is what makes a city a world city. Not just INFRASTRUCTURE .. but ATTITUDE.”
