Andhra, Gujarat and Assam among ‘achievers’ in logistics performance

Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Gujarat have been included in the list of achievers in the Logistics Performance Index. A total of 15 states and union territories have been placed in this category in the Logistics Index-2022.

Ministry Of Commerce Has Released The Report

This information has been received from a report released on Thursday by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The index is an indicator of the efficiency of logistics services needed to boost exports and economic growth.

‘Fast Growing’ States

Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Puducherry, Sikkim and Tripura are other states classified as ‘fast growing’ states in the index.

Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa and Mizoram are also included in the 15 states and union territories classified in the aspirational category.

The Ease of Logistics (LEEDS)-2022 report presented by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal provides ranking of states on the basis of their logistics environment. This is the fourth report.

The index aims to focus on improving logistic performance across states. This is important with a view to improve the country’s trade and reduce transaction costs.

The first logistic report was released in 2018. Last year no ranking was released due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gujarat topped the ranking in both 2018 and 2019.
