Ashneer Grover Stopped at Delhi Airport Amidst Financial Fraud Probe

Ashneer Grover

Ashneer Grover: Entrepreneur Ashneer Grover claimed on Friday that on Thursday, while on route to New York, he and his spouse, Madhuri Jain, were halted at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The co-founder of BharatPe and his spouse were apprehended by the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) at Terminal 3. This occurs a few days after the EOW issued a lookout circular (LoC) against them in connection with a financial fraud case.

Unexpected Halt at Delhi Airport

Grover spoke with X about the event, stating that he had not heard from the investigation agency until Friday. “I was going to US from 16-23 November. At immigration they said LoC laga hua hai sir – EOW se check kar ke batate hai [Look out notice has been issued and will update you after checking with EOW]. I found it strange as have travelled 4 times internationally since FIR filed in May – never been a problem and I had not even been summoned once. Flight left in meantime anyways – EOW folks directed Immigration to let us out so that we can return home,” he said.

Lack of Prior Communication

“I have not received any communication or summon from EOW since filing a FIR in May until 8 AM this morning, 17 May (7 hours after returning from airport),” stated the 41-year-old businessman. Grover did, however, affirm that Friday morning saw the delivery of the EOW summons home. “Will assist as usual,” he continued. Grover and his family members are charged with utilising fraudulent invoices to transfer more over Rs 81 crore from BharatPe’s accounts towards commission payments related to hiring.
