The Income Tax Department had conducted a survey at the BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai under Income Tax Act 133A. The Income Tax Department has given information about this. During the survey, it has been found that BBC Group has tried to save tax by showing less income. During the survey, the evidence collected by the department related to the operation of the organization clearly shows that there were many sources of profit made through foreign units of BBC, on which the tax due in India was not paid.
There are many such employees present abroad and in the country who were paid by the Indian unit but tax was not paid on that also. All these financial irregularities have been revealed on the basis of the statements of BBC employees, digital evidence and documents. These statements have been recorded of top level employees, officers and employees associated with finance, content development and production.
CBDT said this
On the other hand, on the BBC survey, the CBDT said that the Income Tax teams have found important evidence through the statements of employees, digital evidence and documents. The CBDT said that the income and profits shown by various group entities are not commensurate with the scale of operations in India. Controversy over BBC documentary

The timing of this action was questioned by the opposition, while the BJP accused the BBC of “poisonous reporting” against India.
The Supreme Court last week dismissed a petition seeking a complete ban on the BBC in India in the wake of the controversial documentary.
