Soap and Detergent Prices: Now it has become expensive for you to buy soap and detergent. HUL and ITC have announced an increase in the prices of soaps and detergents. The prices of wheel detergent powder, rinse bar and Lux soap have been increased from 3.4 per cent to 21.7 per cent. At the same time, ITC has increased the price of Fiama soap by 10 percent, Vivel by 9 percent and Engage deodorant by 7.6 percent. This information has been received from the report of CNBC TV18.
According to the report, two of the country’s largest fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies have cited increase in input cost as the reason behind the increase in prices.
HUL has increased the price of 1 kg pack of wheel detergent by 3.4 per cent. This will make it costlier by Rs 2. The company has increased the prices of 500 grams pack of wheel powder by 2 Rs . Its price has increased from Rs 28 to Rs 30 now.
It has been said in the report that HUL has increased the price of 250 grams pack of Rin Bar by 5.8 percent. The FMCG giant has increased the price of 100 grams multipack of Lux soap by 21.7 percent or Rs 25.
On the other hand, ITC has increased the prices of 100 gm packs of Fiama soap by 10 per cent. At the same time, the company has increased the price of 100 grams pack of Vivel soap by nine percent. The report further states that the company has increased the price of 150ml bottle of Engage deodorant by 7.6 percent and that of 120ml bottle of Engage perfume by 7.1 percent.
An ITC spokesperson told CNBC TV18 that there has been a significant increase in input cost prices and the industry has increased the prices. He said that in view of this, the company has changed the prices of select items. The spokesperson said the decision was aimed at ensuring that they do not pass on the entire price pressure to the customers.
In the second quarter, Hindustan Unilever’s net profit grew by 9 per cent year-on-year. The company’s profit has reached Rs 2,187 crore, which has been slightly less than expected.
