Car Sales December 2022: From Maruti to Mahindra, auto companies report higher sales figures due to year end discounts, details here

Car Sales December 2022: In comparison to the cumulative domestic sales of 123016 units during the same period previous year, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) recorded 112010 units in December 2022, a YoY negative sales growth of 9%. This calendar year has seen a flurry of launches from the nation’s largest automaker.

Growth also increased due to some new launch

The business unveiled the Grand Vitara midsize SUV a few months ago. The Indo-Japanese automaker is preparing for the 2023 Auto Expo in Greater Noida, where it will host the world premieres of the Baleno-based coupe SUV and the five-door Jimny. While the latter is most likely to arrive at dealerships by August, the former will go on sale around April 2023.
The five-door Jimny could be renamed the new Gypsy by Maruti Suzuki. With a YoY growth of 13%, 40,043 units were recorded in the final month of the 2022 calendar year compared to 35299 units during the comparable time in 2021, propelling Tata Motors up the rankings to finish second in the manufacturers’ volume rankings overall.

Expectations from the company in this new year

Tata and Hyundai

In 2023, the company is anticipated to release the updated Safari, Harrier, and electric Punch mini SUV. Tata reported its highest-ever quarterly sales in the third fiscal quarter of 2023 last month after collectively surpassing the 50,000 unit threshold for the first time. With a total of 38,831 units sold, Hyundai Motor placed third overall, up from 32,312 units in December 2021 and a YoY growth of 20%.

Mahindra & Mahindra and Kia

By the end of 2022, Mahindra & Mahindra was the fourth most popular automaker. With a YoY growth of 62%, the SUV manufacturer located in Mumbai produced 28,333 vehicles overall last month as opposed to 17,469 units during the same period in 2021. With 15,184 units compared to 7,797 units in December 2021, Kia Motor India was able to take fifth place.

Car Sales December 2022: Toyota and Honda

As a result, YoY growth increased by 95%. Toyota finished sixth with 10,421 units compared to 10,834 units, a 4% YoY decline. Honda placed seventh overall with 7,062 units compared to 7,973 units, a YoY fall of 11%. Thanks to Kushaq and Slavia, Skoda reported 4,788 units versus 3,234 units, representing a YoY growth of 48%.
