DA Hike : Jharkhand Cabinet Approves 44 Proposals in Key Meeting, Announces Major Benefits for State Employees and Residents

DA Hike : — In a significant move, the Jharkhand Council of Ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, approved 44 key proposals during a meeting held at Project Bhawan on Thursday. The meeting, attended by various cabinet-level ministers and senior officials, resulted in several major decisions aimed at benefiting state employees, students, and the general public.

One of the most notable outcomes of the meeting was the increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for state employees. The cabinet approved a 9% hike, raising the DA from 230% to 239%. This adjustment is set to provide much-needed relief to state employees amid rising living costs.

Electricity Bill Waiver for Over 39 Lakh Residents

In a move that will benefit over 39.44 lakh people, the Hemant Soren government announced a waiver of electricity bills for 39,44,389 residents. This decision, which will place a financial burden of Rs 3,584 crore on the state treasury, is expected to bring significant relief to the beneficiaries. Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel confirmed the approval of this proposal following the cabinet meeting.

Education and Welfare Initiatives

The cabinet also approved several proposals aimed at enhancing educational and welfare facilities in the state. A proposal to increase the student force in residential schools was approved, reflecting the government’s focus on improving educational infrastructure.

Additionally, an amendment related to residential schools for minority students was passed. The cabinet also approved the construction of a women’s college in Jamtara, with a budget allocation of Rs 58.71 crore, furthering the state’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities for women.

Support for Agniveers and Employment Initiatives

In a compassionate move, the Jharkhand government made provisions to offer employment to the wife and dependents of state residents serving as Agniveers who are martyred during military operations. Alongside employment opportunities, the government will also provide an ex-gratia grant of Rs 10 lakh to the families of martyred Agniveers.

Furthermore, the cabinet passed a proposal regarding the Jharkhand Assistant Service Teacher Amendment, which aims to streamline and enhance the recruitment and service conditions of assistant teachers in the state.
