Rupee vs Dollar: Early on Friday, the rupee strengthened against the US dollar by 19 paise to 82.19 due to widespread dollar weakness and a strong trend in domestic equities.
Rupee appreciates against Dollar by 19 paise
Forex traders claimed that ongoing withdrawals of foreign funds dampened investor mood and restricted the appreciation bias.
The domestic unit rose 19 paise over its previous close to reach 82.19 at the interbank foreign exchange from its opening price of 82.30 against the dollar.
The rupee rose 9 paise to close at 82.38 against the US dollar on Thursday.
The dollar index measures the strength of the dollar against a basket of six different currencies, decreased to 104.53 by 0.23 percent.

The benchmark for global oil, Brent crude futures, increased by 0.89 percent to $76.83 a barrel.
On the domestic equities market, the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 25.7 points, or 0.04 percent, at 62,596.38. The NSE Nifty, which is more encompassing, rose 18.628.60 points, or 0.1%.
According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) sold shares worth 1,131.67 crore on Thursday, making them net sellers in the capital markets.
