Elon Musk, the big boss at Tesla, surprised everyone by visiting to China. This happened just a few days after he put off going to India.
In order to announce Tesla’s entry into India, Musk was scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Modi. Plans for a plant to produce a new, reasonably priced automobile type were part of this. However, that visit is currently on hold and will take place later in 2024 because to “Tesla commitments.”
Musk’s China Mission
While India is waiting, Musk is apparently busy in China. Reports from Reuters says he’ll meet with government officials and talk about two important things.
- Musk wants to use Tesla‘s Full-Self Driving software in China
- He also needs permission to send data from Tesla cars in China overseas. This data is important for training the algorithms that Tesla uses to drive itself.
Musks visit to China was not announced publicly. News sources reported that a private plane belonging to Tesla and SpaceX landed in Beijing at the same time. This trip also happens at the time of ongoing Beijing Auto Show.
Making changes to new factories
It’s unclear what Tesla intends to do with its new operations in Mexico and India. Their objective is to produce close to 3 million automobiles by 2024, a 50% increase in manufacturing. Tesla is concentrating on cost savings in these uncertain times, even if it means decreasing expenses more slowly than anticipated.
