The media has reported that tech giant Google has warned that an antitrust ruling by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) that demands it to adjust how it markets the Android platform may slow the growth of its enormously popular Android ecosystem in India. According to news source, the Alphabet-owned corporation made notice of this in a Supreme Court appeal.
Google warns: Growth of its Android eco-system will stall due to anti-trust order by CCI
The Alphabet-owned firm was fined $161 million by India’s antitrust watchdog for abusing its dominating position in the market for Android, which powers 97% of Indian smartphones and is a vital growth area for the US tech giant.
CCI decision will force Google to change its long standing business model
Google has previously stated that the CCI ruling will compel it to alter its long-standing business model, but its Indian Supreme Court petition quantifies the impact and describes the adjustments the company will have to make. According to the tech giant, it will be necessary to amend its current contracts, issue new licence agreements, and change its current agreements with more than 1,100 device makers and thousands of app developers.

National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) directs Google to deposit 10 percent of Rs 1337.76 crore fine
Earlier this week, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal rejected Google’s request for an immediate stay of the CCI antitrust decision (NCLT).
According to a report , the appeal panel orders Google to deposit 10% of the Rs 1337.76 crore fine, has sent notices to CCI, and has ordered to file the case for a hearing on the interim stay on February 13.
Before the NCLAT, Google had contested the CCI decision in the Android case and asked for the judgement to be immediately stayed. Google said that the conclusions were “patently incorrect” and disregarded “the realities of competition in India, Google’s procompetitive business model, and the advantages provided for all stakeholders” in the appeal.
