Google Play Store: Indian Startups Join Hands Against Google Play Billing System, What You Must Know

Google Play Billing System: Around 40 Indian companies and startups have joined hands to challenge Google, the case is related to Google Play Billing System, as per reports. The collective initiative is backed and brought together under the patronage of Intenet and Mobile Association of India.

Google Play Billing System mandates that all the in-app purchases will be processed with its own payment gateway, it also imposed a 30 percent commission on the transactions. A noticeable point is that a recent ruling by Competition commission of India said Google to deploy use-choice billing system instead of GBPS.

As per media reports, a taskforce which includes almost 40 Indian Firms is going to take legal action against Google which reflects the intensity of their concerns. The tech giant is expected to be present in order to explain its action. It is also important to note that Google also have a representative position in the task force, as reported by media.

IAMAI’s Indianisation

The recent case, emphasizes on more Indian influence in the IAMAI. Previous week, IAMAI introduced a resolution suggesting that the chairperson of the orgainisation should belong to Indian firm. It also recommended to secure 50 percent of the governing council seats for Indian organisations.

The new resolution aims for changes in modus operandi for the increased transparency. Formation of any new committee and council must be voted by the governing and executive council.

On the other hand, The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal said that it will start hearing Google’s Appeal against Competiton Commision Of India’s imposition of Rs. 936 Crore which was imposed on the tech giant for abusing its dominant market stand concerning the Google Play Store.
