Google’s Product Ratings: Google is planning to amend its Product Ratings policy on August 28, 2023, to prohibit the inclusion of automated and artificial intelligence (AI) content in evaluations. To implement the policy and assure compliance, the firm will use a combination of AI techniques and human-based evaluation. This follows the firm’s legal action in June 2023 against scammers who use bogus reviews and listings to deceive and exploit consumers.
Google is Enhancing User Trust
Google values first-hand accounts and works to remove misleading or fraudulent information. The platform ensures a fair and transparent review system by preventing duplicate reviews and highlighting rules violations. This change is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to improve the user experience and foster a trustworthy environment for both consumers and businesses.
Google’s Product Ratings: Enforcement Strategy
Google will use a combination of AI techniques and human-based evaluation to successfully implement these regulations. To protect the platform’s integrity, automated programmes and AI apps that generate reviews will be flagged as spam.
Clarifying Existing Policies
The policies have been modified to address a variety of issues, including spam content, unsafe products or acts, personal and confidential information, illegal content, hate speech, and others. To improve user experience, Google tries to remove irrelevant and harmful information from its platform.
Limitation on Automated Content
The prohibition on automated material is a major addition to the policies. Google will not accept reviews that are predominantly created by an automated programme or artificial intelligence application. This is done to confirm that the reviews are legitimate and posted by real users.
