Income Tax News: Every day, the Income Tax Department makes headlines by sending notices worth crores of rupees to various individuals. But do you know that a laborer received a tax notice for a jaw-dropping amount of 232 crores? It sounds unbelievable, but this is a true story.
In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, a man named Phool Miyan, who works in embroidery, found himself in a shocking situation. He received a tax notice for an astonishing 232 crores from the Income Tax Department. Let’s delve into the details of this bizarre incident.
How the Tax Notice Came About
Phool Miyan often travels to places like Ludhiana and Panipat to find work when it is scarce. In 2018, he sought help from a man named Guddu Sundar, also known as Uwais, to secure a job. Trusting Uwais, who had traveled to Dubai multiple times, Phool Miyan shared his Aadhar card, PAN card, photo, and other important documents with him.
Unfortunately, this trust was misplaced. Uwais and his accomplices misused Phool Miyan’s documents to establish a company in his name without his knowledge. The situation escalated when Phool Miyan received his first notice from the Delhi Income Tax Department on February 5 of this year. The notice claimed that his company, HI Cloud Impacts, had conducted transactions totaling 2.32 billion rupees, leading to a significant tax due.
The Legal Battle
According to police reports, an export firm was created using Phool Miyan’s documents, facilitating transactions exceeding 200 crores. This has led to serious legal consequences for him. Phool Miyan promptly filed a complaint, which resulted in an FIR being registered against the involved parties. The investigation is currently ongoing.
