IndiGo Celebrates 18 Years with Launch of Business Class Services and Special Discounts

IndiGo: As IndiGo, the country’s leading airline, approaches its 18th anniversary in India, it has announced the introduction of business class services, branded as IndiGo Stretch, on 12 routes. These routes include major cities such as Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Mumbai. This move marks IndiGo’s efforts to cater to the growing demand for premium class travel in the country.

Launch of Business Class Services

IndiGo’s business class bookings will commence on August 6, with travel starting from November 14. The fare for the business class will begin at Rs 18,018. CEO Pieter Elbers stated that the airline’s first flight took off in India 18 years ago on August 7, and to celebrate this milestone, the airline is introducing business class services for its passengers. Along with this, the airline will also launch the Bluechip Loyalty Program in September. Premium business class meals will be provided by Oberoi Hotels, with Elbers emphasizing the airline’s commitment to offering top-notch services.

Discount Offers on Tickets

In conjunction with the launch of business class, IndiGo is working to shed its budget airline image. To mark its 18th anniversary, IndiGo has announced a discount of up to 18% on flight tickets for four days, from August 5 to August 8, under the Happy IndiGo Sale. Customers can avail of this discount using the code HAPPY18.

Financial Performance

Despite celebrating its growth and new service launches, IndiGo’s parent company, Interglobe Aviation, reported a 12% year-on-year decline in net profit for the April-June quarter of the current financial year, amounting to Rs 2,729 crore. However, the company saw a 17% increase in revenue, reaching Rs 19,571 crore, compared to Rs 16,683 crore in the same period last year. On Monday, IndiGo’s shares closed 2% lower at Rs 4,225.25.
