The CEO of Chipotle Mexican Grill, Brian Niccol, has been named as Starbucks’ new boss, following the company’s dismissal of Laxman Narasimhan. Less than a year has passed since Narasimhan became CEO of Starbucks. The company’s chief financial officer, Rachel Ruggeri, will assume the role of acting CEO until Niccol formally takes over on September 9, 2024, marking the start of the transmission.

The sudden departure of Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan has sparked debate, especially in light of his recent remarks regarding work-life balance. He said in a July interview that he hardly ever worked past 6 PM and that any activity after that time needed to be extremely important. Who is Brian Niccol?

The recently appointed CEO of Starbucks, Brian Niccol, has extensive expertise in the fast-food sector. Since taking over as CEO in 2018, he has successfully guided Chipotle through substantial expansion, which includes an astounding 800% increase in the company’s stock value. Prior to joining Chipotle, Niccol served as CEO of Taco Bell, where he oversaw several departments and served as Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer.In addition to serving on the boards of Walmart Inc., KB Home, and Harley-Davidson, Niccol started his professional career in brand management at Procter & Gamble. He graduated from Miami University with a bachelor’s degree and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with an MBA.
