Mumbai Airport Advisory: Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has issued an advisory for passengers, informing them of increased security measures in place until August 20, 2024, due to Independence Day. The airport has urged passengers to factor in these enhanced security protocols when planning their travel, advising them to allocate additional time for safety checks. The advisory comes as part of a broader effort to bolster security at all major transportation hubs and crowded areas, including airports, railway stations, and metro stations, in light of the upcoming national holiday.
Mumbai Airport’s Advisory for Passengers
In a message posted on social media, Mumbai Airport stated, “Due to the expected surge in air travel in the coming weeks as well as additional security measures for Independence Day till 20 August 2024, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport requests passengers to allocate sufficient time to complete the mandatory safety protocols.” The airport emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safety of passengers while maintaining an efficient and secure travel environment.
DMRC’s Advisory on Intensified Security Checks
Ahead of Mumbai Airport’s advisory, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) also issued a security-related notice. On the social media platform X, DMRC announced, “Security arrangements have been increased ahead of Independence Day on 15th August. In view of this, security checks of passengers will be further intensified by CISF at metro stations from tomorrow i.e. 6th August 2024 (Tuesday).” DMRC warned that these enhanced security measures could lead to longer queues, particularly during peak hours, and advised passengers to plan their journeys accordingly.
Delhi Prepares for Independence Day with Tightened Security
In Delhi, preparations for Independence Day include stringent security arrangements. North Delhi DCP Manoj Kumar Meena confirmed that extensive measures are being put in place to ensure the safety of the public during the celebrations. “Every year on 15 August, Delhi Police makes tight arrangements. Arrangements are being made this time too. Around 22,000 people come to watch the ceremony, arrangements are being made for them too so that they can come comfortably,” said Meena. The area around the Red Fort will be under close surveillance with CCTV cameras, and social media activity will also be monitored as part of the security measures.
