Gautam Singhania: Raymond Chairman Gautam Singhania ‘s estranged wife, Nawaz Modi, has claimed that the Ambanis rescued her after Singhania physically “assaulted” her. She has demanded a settlement of 75% of his fortune as part of their divorce. Singhania ‘assaulted’ Nawaz Modi and their young daughter, Niharika, on September 10th in the morning following his birthday celebration at their Mumbai home. She and her daughter sought refuge in a room and attempted to contact the police for assistance.
Disturbing Incident Unveiled
In an interview, Nawaz Modi recounted the incident and said that Anant and Nita Ambani saved them and made sure the police were called. “I called my friend Ananya Goenka. She figured that the police were not going to come [to help us]. Gautam would have managed things around. Ananya said ‘Me and Anant will go to the police station and come there’,” Nawaz Modi said.
Immediate Crisis Management
Niharika also gave her friend Vishwaroop, who is Singhania’s first cousin and the son of Trishakar Bajaj, a call. “Trishakar’s son Vishwaroop was also there (Following Gautam Singhania’s assault allegations, Nawaz Modi says Anant and Nita Ambani stepped in to protect her and ensured police intervention.for the party). He is a good friend of my daughters. They are the same age. So, she called him up, ‘Vishu come back, right now’. He knew the atmosphere in the house,” Nawaz Modi said. In addition, Niharika instructed Vishwaroop to send Trishakar Bajaj to communicate with Gautam.
Immediate Support from Ambanis
“Before I knew it, Nita Ambani was on the line with me, Anant Ambani was on the line with me. The whole family had jumped in,” Nawaz Modi said. She further said, “Thank God for that because Gautam was telling Niharika ‘the cops are not going to help you. Everyone is in my pocket’. So, Niharika got even more distraught, and I told her to just calm down, we are getting help.” Professional fitness trainer Modi stated, “Gautam did stop the cops from coming, but the Ambanis made sure they came.”
Alleged Obstruction of Police Entry
Nawaz Modi added, “Gautam tried to stop the cops from coming, from entering JK House, and he tried not to be smoked out and be brought down and cornered thanks to the Ambanis’ instructions, the cops overruled everything Gautam tried. He was then truly cornered. He didn’t want the NC’s (non-cognizable offence report) to be written. The Ambanis made sure that they were written.” Gauatam Singhania, meanwhile, declined to respond to Nawaz Modi’s accusations.
Gautam Singhania’s Statement
He said, “In the interest of my two beautiful daughters, I would like to maintain my family’s dignity and I will refrain from offering any comment. Please respect my privacy”. On November 14, Gautam Singhania announced his divorce from Nawaz Modi, after 32 years of marriage. This came after Nawaz claimed she was prevented from going to her husband’s Diwali celebration. 75 percent of Nawaz’s estimated net worth of $1.4 billion was demanded by him as part of the divorce settlement.
