OpenAI announced the termination of CEO Sam Altman, citing a lack of confidence in his communication transparency with the board. The dismissal, which led to co-founder Greg Brockman’s departure, follows Altman’s previous leadership in creating ChatGPT, an AI chatbot that sparked an unprecedented race in the tech world.
In response to the news, Altman expressed gratitude for his time at OpenAI, highlighting the transformative experience and collaboration with talented individuals. The company stated that CTO Mira Murati will take over as CEO.
Here’s what he said in response:
“I loved my time at OpenAI. It was transformative for me personally, and hopefully the world a little bit. Most of all, I loved working with such talented people. Will have more to say about what’s next later,” said Mr Altman in a post on X, formerly Twitter
“I’m super proud of what we’ve all built together since starting in my apartment 8 years ago. We’ve been through tough & great times together, accomplishing so much despite all the reasons it should have been impossible. But based on today’s news, I quit,” he said on X.
Brockman, in his departure note, expressed pride in the collective achievements at OpenAI over the past eight years. The board of directors includes key figures such as chief scientist Ilya Sutskever and Quora CEO Adam D’Angelo.
About ChatGPT
