Paris Olympics 2024: A day after the Olympics‘ launch, another event of importance took place—the inauguration of India House, India’s first country house at the Olympics. It was duly marked with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Nita Ambani, founder and chairperson of the Reliance Foundation. Among the distinguished guest lists at the event were IOC officials, Indian dignitaries, celebrities, and others who came to join in this historic moment.

The notable amongst those attending were IOC committee member Ser Miang Ng, Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha, India’s Ambassador to France Javed Ashraf, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, and Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra. This simply manifested the importance of the event and the collective dreams of aspirations for India’s future in the Olympic arena.

Nita Ambani said during the inauguration that she was hopeful about India’s future Olympic campaigns. It’s so visioning—being able to see beyond the moment. Where she sees, not only India at the Olympics, she is hosting the Games. Welcome to the India House built for the first time in Olympic history. Today we are seeing a new dream in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. A dream of 1.4 billion Indians. That is a shared dream of bringing India to the Olympics and bringing the Olympics to India,” Ambani said. She further said that while the Olympic flame was first lit in Athens, it must one day shine in India as it is such an ardent aspiration for the country.

India House as a Symbol of Commitment

Nita Ambani said that India House stood as a point, indirectly tagging the commitment from India’s side towards the Olympics. She said, “India House is a symbol of India’s Olympic aspirations. We hope that it becomes a home away from home for our athletes. A place where we respect them, salute their spirit, and celebrate their achievements.” She also mentioned that India House is a new beginning for India, inviting the world to experience the rich heritage and diversity of India in the heart of Paris.

The inauguration of India House is the single biggest step that Indian Sports has taken for its Olympic dreams. It is the stamp of an increasingly strong footprint left by the country in the international arena and its commitment toward furthering international sporting relations.
