People weeping after being laid off from Amazon India, an employee describes bleak situation in an anonymous post

E-Commerce giant Amazon, recently gave its employees pink slips. There are reports that the corporation has asked over 1,000 employees to leave.

Amazon hands over pink slips to over 1000 employees

Following the announcement of layoffs, an Amazon India employee blogged about the depressing scenes, including people crying in the office. It was disseminated on the professional Indian community app Grapevine.

The post revealed the current situation in Amazon India

“75% of my team is gone. Although I’m in the remaining 25% I don’t feel motivated to work anymore. They are firing people in cabins. People are crying in the office,”

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced mass layoffs in November last year

In November of last year, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy initially disclosed the widespread layoffs, saying,

“We plan to eliminate just over 18,000 roles. Several teams are impacted; however, the majority of role eliminations are in our Amazon Stores and PXT organizations.”

According to sources, loss-making teams at Amazon are among those most adversely affected. Both new hires and seasoned workers across several divisions working out of offices in Bengaluru, Gurugram, and other locations across India were affected by the most recent round of layoffs.

The rising cost of living and the volatile political climate around the world are posing uncertainty for workers at major IT businesses everywhere. Twitter, Meta, Microsoft, Salesforce, and other well-known businesses are just a few of the others that have lately let go of staff members.
