Petrol and diesel price update [23 November, 2022]: Fuel prices unchanged stable for another day in the country on Wednesday. On May 22, an Excise duty reduction of Rs. 8 per litre was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on petrol and Rs. 6 per litre on diesel.
The fuel prices have remained steady for six months now. Apart from that, the Maharashtra state government had announced a Value Added Tax (VAT) cut on the fuel prices in the state. Petrol was reduced by Rs. 5 per litre and diesel by Rs. 3 per liter.

The difference in the price of fuel in the states are due to the tax and the cost of transportation imposed by the central and state government.

Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum revise fuel rates daily, taking into account crude and rupee-dollar rates in international markets. Daily price changes for fuel are effected at 6 am every day.
