Reliance Jio Boosts Data Game with New ‘True Unlimited’ Plans, Check Details Here

Discover how, in the face of pricing increases, Reliance Jio is reshaping the telecom sector with new 'True Unlimited' plans that include 5G data. Find out the specifics and how these changes will affect the competition and consumers.

Jio

After long, the Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has finally gone ahead to implement a major tariff hike in all its prepaid and postpaid plans from July 3. That has taken prices up by a whopping maximum of 25%, throwing in the process its otherwise careful strategy of pricing all these times. That is done away with, with the telco also discontinuing several of the older plans, somewhat upsetting its huge user base.

5G Exclusive Benefit

On its part, Reliance Jio has now brought three new ‘True Unlimited Upgrade’ plans to offer more benefits to consumers. Available for INR 51, INR 101, and INR 151, these plans offer absolutely unlimited data consumption on 5G, which further supplements the diet of literally unlimited data on the 4G front. The Rs 51 plan brings 3GB of 4G data, the Rs 101 plan bundles 6GB, and the Rs 151 plan has 9GB of 4G data.

It should be noted that this unlimited 5G data will be permitted only through the Jio True 5G network. It is a benefit that is applicable only to a 5G compatible device. Limited data will, as per plan specifications, continue to be accessed from the 4G device in areas where the 4G device does not support the 5G coverage.

Strategic Adjustments in Tariffs

The new plans will be aimed at customers using under 1.5GB of data per day. On people already subscribed to Jio’s plans, which have already given them 2GB or more of data every day, the benefits of unlimited 5G data will stand unchanged. The changes in tariffs being effected and coming in of these new plans is a reflection of the plans Jio has been contemplating to keep pace with the changing consumer needs and trends in technology.

Although there was some dissatisfaction at first, as old plans are not going to continue, the enhanced options that are going to roll out in the new future will make it more user-friendly and keep the company competitive in the telecom market. With Reliance Jio adding more to its network capabilities and building its future strategy on emerging technologies like 5G, the entire telecom industry may witness some new developments that can change the status quo of connectivity and consumer expectations in India’s digital landscape.
