At the Doha Forum 2024, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar clarified India's position on global financial systems, stating that India is not advocating for de-dollarisation and that there is 'India Has Never Been For De-dollarisation…,' EAM Opens Up on BRICS Currency no proposal for a BRICS currency. “The BRICS do discuss financial transactions, but the US remains our largest trade partner, and we have no interest in weakening the dollar,” he emphasized.

Dr. Jaishankar also reflected on India's relationship with the United States under President Donald Trump. Acknowledging trade-related disputes during that time, he highlighted the restarting of the QUAD under Trump and the personal rapport between Prime Minister Modi and Trump as significant factors in bilateral ties.
Call for Inclusive and Innovative Diplomacy
Dr. Jaishankar stressed the need for diplomats worldwide to embrace proactive and innovative diplomacy in an increasingly complex global environment. “It’s a messy world, with conflicts everywhere. That era where the Security Council or a few Western countries managed it is behind us. All of us, in different ways, need to step forward,” he stated.
He pointed to the conflict in Myanmar as an example of inadequate international engagement, criticizing the passive approach of isolating the country in hopes of resolving the crisis. He called for more vigorous, participative, and creative diplomacy to address such challenges.
Dr. Jaishankar’s remarks highlighted India's commitment to fostering a multipolar world order and a collaborative approach to global governance.
