Stock Market Today: Asian shares trade mixed, SGX Nifty indicates a downbeat start

Stock Market Today: The Nifty futures contract traded 31.5 points, or 0.18 percent, lower at 17,732 on the Singapore Exchange, indicating that Dalal Street will have a bad start on Tuesday. On the daily scale, Nifty on Monday created a long, red candle with a smaller shadow. Chartists suggested that this might be a short-term market negative reversal.

Tokyo stocks open higher

Tokyo markets started the day higher on Tuesday thanks to a weaker yen, which helped US stocks close with moderate gains as investors in the biggest economy in the world awaited more business results.The more inclusive Topix index increased by 0.33 percent, or 6.78 points, to 2,033.75, while the benchmark Nikkei 225 index increased by 0.17 percent, or 47.05 points, to 28,561.83 in early trade.

Stock Market Today: Dow, S&P 500 end higher

While investors prepared for a busy week of corporate results and remarks from Federal Reserve officials that could provide additional insight into the course of interest rates, major U.S. stock indexes registered moderate gains on Monday, helped by banking and industrial firms.

About the Rupee and Oil

On Monday, the rupee lost 16 paise to end the day at 82.01 against the US dollar as investor sentiment was dampened by a strong US dollar abroad and a downward trend in domestic markets. Following a 2% decline in the previous session, oil prices remained stable in early trade on Tuesday as investors awaited the release of economic data from China in an effort to counteract weaker demand elsewhere.
