Stock Market Today: GIFT Nifty on the NSE IX increased by 22.5 points at 19571, indicating that Dalal Street is likely to have a poor start to the week. Ahead of the weekly expiry on Thursday, Nifty ended 141 points lower, forming an evening star candle on the daily chart, which is regarded as a bearish reversal pattern. Nifty is currently showing signs of additional weakness from the current levels, with a bearish candle forming on the daily chart and a double-top formation on the intraday and daily charts. As investors evaluated the most recent round of quarterly company results and projections, Treasury rates continued to rise, and U.S. stocks finished Wednesday’s trading session substantially lower, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq losing more than 1% apiece.
Rupee falls; Tokyo stocks opened lower
Wednesday saw the rupee close 3 paise down at 83.28 vs the US dollar, tracking negative signals from the country’s equity markets amid rising global crude oil prices. Following losses on Wall Street, Tokyo equities began the day lower on Thursday against the backdrop of continuing hostilities between Israel and Hamas, which has stoked concerns about a potential regional conflagration.
