Stock Market Today: GIFT Nifty on the NSE IX fell 12.5 points, or 0.06 percent, to 20,326 on Friday, indicating that Dalal Street will likely have a quiet start. On the day of the monthly expiry, Nifty concluded the day at a level of about 36 points, attempting to break through the immediate resistance at 20,115, and creating a tiny green candle with a long lower shadow on the daily charts. The wider NSE Nifty closed above 20,100, while the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex increased by 87 points.In November, however, the Sensex increased by 3,071 points, or 4.8%, to end at 66,988. In contrast, the Nifty increased by 1,053 points, or 5.5%, to close at 20,133.
Stock Market Today: Rupee falls again
The rupee ended a two-day upward trend on Thursday, falling 5 paise to 83.37 against the US dollar as a result of the US currency’s strengthening abroad and rising crude oil prices. Friday saw the euro suffer sharp losses as traders took into account statistics suggesting that inflation was beginning to decline, feeding hopes that interest rates had peaked and central banks would soon begin to reduce them. Meanwhile, the dollar was losing ground.
