Stock Market Today: The Indian benchmark index is off to a gap-down start, according to Gift Nifty’s trends. The local indices NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex had a dismal start to the day as indicated by the GIFT Nifty, which fell 222 points to 24,192. The key domestic equity indices finished lower yesterday for the fourth straight session. The Nifty 50 closed at 24,413.50, down 65.55 points, and the Sensex dropped 280.16 points to conclude at 80,148.88. Yesterday’s range-bound trading saw the Nifty 50 index maintain its downward trend, ending the day down 65 points.

Larsen and Toubro

The Indian multinational company Larsen & Toubro Limited, or L&T, is focused on heavy industry, industrial technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing, electricity, information technology, the military, and financial services. Renowned engineering and construction company Larsen and Toubro (L&T) announced a 12% increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 2,786 crore on an annual basis.

Axis Bank

Axis Bank Limited is a multinational banking and financial services firm based in India that was originally known as UTI Bank from 1993 to 2007. In terms of assets, it is the third-biggest private sector bank in India; in terms of market capitalisation, it ranks fourth. It offers financial services to retail, small and medium-sized enterprises, and SMEs. Axis Bank announced on Wednesday that its standalone net profit for the quarter that concluded on June 30, 2024, was Rs 6,035 crore, an increase of 4% over the previous year.
