Stock Market Today: The SGX Nifty suggests that India’s equity indices will open in the green. Nifty futures in Singapore were trading 49.5 points, or 0.28, higher at 17,999.5. On Wednesday, the BSE Sensex declined 9.98 points, or 0.02%, to 60,105.50, while the NSE Nifty 50 slid 18.45 points, or 0.10%, to 17,895.70. The Bank Nifty gained 0.52%, the Nifty IT gained 0.33%, and the Nifty FMCG lost 1.13%. Bharti Airtel dropped the most among individual stocks, dropping more than 5% intraday.
Bank Nifty likely to remain volatile in coming session
“Despite a turbulent trading session, the Bank Nifty index managed to sustain the immediate support level of 42,000. The index found support on the lower end at 41700, where there was heavy buying. The index is expected to remain volatile in the coming session, with a break below 41,700 accelerating the downward trend. The upper end of the intermediate resistance zone is seen at 42,350-42,400, with short covering expected to reach 42,700.” LKP Securities’ Kunal Shah is a Senior Technical Analyst.
Stock Market Today: US stock market ends in green
The US stock market ended in the green overnight. The tech-heavy Nasdaq index increased 189.04 points or 1.76% to 10,931.67, while the S&P500 rose 50.36 points or 1.28% to 3,969.61. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) increased 268.91 points or 0.80% to 33,973.01.
Stocks under F&O ban
Indiabulls Housing Finance and GNFC equities are included in the National Stock Exchange’s F&O ban list for January 12. The NSE states that the aforementioned stocks are forbidden from trading in the F&O sector because they have exceeded the market’s overall position limit by 95%. (MWPL). No new positions are allowed for F&O contracts in these equities during the F&O ban period.
Stock Market Today: FII DII Data
According to preliminary data made available on the NSE, foreign institutional investors (FII) net-sold shares worth Rs 3,208.15 crore on January 11 while domestic institutional investors (DII) net-bought shares worth Rs 2,430.62 crore.
