Stock Market Today: The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex are likely to stay under pressure today due to negative global cues. In early morning trade today, the Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) were 48 points, or 0.26%, lower at 18,682.

Adani Transmission, Adani Total Gas, and Indus Towers will be removed from the MSCI index, while three other companies will be added. On May 30, FIIs continued to be net purchasers, purchasing stocks worth almost Rs. 2,086 crore. Meanwhile, DIIs sold approximately Rs. 439 crore in equities on the same day. The US debt ceiling remains a source of anxiety, with a few senators opposing the arrangement.

Tokyo stocks opened lower

Tokyo markets opened lower on Wednesday, following a mixed close on Wall Street, as investors assessed the potential of a US government default. In early trade, the Nikkei index sank 0.94 percent, or 294.11 points, to 31,034.05, while the wider Topix index fell 0.81 percent, or 17.54 points, to 2,141.68.

Asian markets were trading Red

The Hang Seng in Hong Kong fell 1.66%, China’s Shanghai Composite index down 0.61%, the Asia Dow fell 1.25%, and Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 0.78%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) dipped 0.15%, the S&P 500 closed flat, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq jumped 0.32% in the overnight session.

Stock Market Today: FIIs inflow rises 

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) increased their purchases to approximately Rs. 2,086 crore on Tuesday. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) on the other hand, ended their seven-day winning streak and turned net sellers, with an outflow of almost Rs. 439 crore. Despite a tumultuous performance, the Sensex ended near the critical 63,000 milestone, and the Nifty 50 reached over 18,630 levels. Overall, the markets fared well.
