Tata Group is in talks to purchase Wistron iPhone manufacturing facility
The Tata Group is reportedly in talks to purchase Wistron’s iPhone manufacturing factory in the southern state of Karnataka, according to a story from last month. One of the leading manufacturers of Apple iPhones in India is Wistron.
According to a report published last month, Tata Group is interested in purchasing the Wistron manufacturing site in the southern state of Karnataka for $4000 to $5000 crore.
In 2017, Wistron started producing iPhones in India, following years of efforts by Apple to expand its manufacturing presence there. The Taipei-based business now assembles iPhones at its facility in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. The electronics giant Apple’s years-long efforts to expand its manufacturing skills in the nation led Wistron, a company with headquarters in Taipei City, Taiwan, to begin producing iPhones in India in 2017. Currently, Wistron builds different iPhone models at its facility in the Indian state of Karnataka.
If the deal is approved, Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd (TEPL), the group firm of the salt to software behemoth, will be able to increase its production capacity in precision engineering.
