TikTok in view of changing its headquarters to London to exempt link from China

TikTok is currently in discussion with the UK government as it plans to relocate its headquarters to London. The decision has come after the wildly popular app received flak and has even been banned in some countries for its link with China.

London is among one of the several locations the company is considering for the headquarters, but the final decision is yet to be made. It is also not clear that what other locations are under consideration.

TikTok is currently facing issues in Washington as it has been claimed that China could force company to hand over users’ personal data.

According to a report published in The Indian Express, the source close to the matter has mentioned that the company is focusing on its issues with the US over the last few weeks, but hasn’t ruled out London as a potential location for its news headquarters. The source also added that TikTok is currently considering “significantly” increasing the workforcre in London and other locations outside China in the coming years.

Owned by Chinese tech Giant ByteDance, TikTok is a video sharing platform which allows people to share short clips upto 15 secons. People also use the app for lip syncs, dances, tricks, art and various other things that they are good at.

The Indian government last month banned 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok which had a huge fan-base in the country. While banning the apps, government said that these apps are “prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of the state and public order.”
