Top 5 stocks of the day: Adani Enterprises, Nestle India, Eicher Motors, HUL and HDFC Bank are its biggest winners while Axis Bank, SBI, IndusInd Bank, NTPC, and UltraTech Cement are the Nifty’s biggest losers. With the exception of FMCG and IT, all other sector indexes finished lower, with decreases of 1-3% in auto, capital goods, power, PSU bank, capital goods, healthcare, metal, and real estate. The BSE midcap index fell 1.5%, and the smallcap index dropped 1%, underperforming the major indices.

At the closing, the Nifty was at 19,436.10 and the Sensex was down 92.70 points, or 0.47 percent, at 65,226.04 and 286.06 points, respectively. A total of 1255 shares increased, 2294 fell, and 122 were constant. On October 4, benchmark indices declined for the second straight session, with Nifty closing below 19,450.

Oil prices dropped by 1 dollar
Oil prices dropped on Wednesday as demand worries brought on by macroeconomic headwinds overshadowed Saudi Arabia’s pledge to maintain crude supply curbs through the end of 2023. At 8:41 GMT, Brent crude oil futures were down 58 cents, or 0.64%, to $90.34 per barrel, while WTI was down 66 cents, or 0.74%, to $88.57 per barrel in the United States. At their intraday lows on Wednesday, both contracts were trading more than $1 below Tuesday’s settlement price, with Brent dropping to $89.83 per barrel and WTI to $88.11 per barrel.
