OPEC+ panel maintained oil output curbs to keep supply tight
An OPEC+ panel maintained oil output curbs to keep supply tight, which helped oil prices inch up on Thursday. However, gains were limited by an uncertain demand picture. Brent crude oil futures increased by 55 cents to $86.36 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude increased by 55 cents to $84.77 a barrel. Following a meeting of the OPEC+ panel, which consists of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies led by Russia, oil prices fell by more than $5 on Wednesday as a worsening macroeconomic outlook and the destruction of gasoline demand came into focus.
