Top 5 Stocks Of The Day: On the Nifty, the biggest gainers are BPCL, SBI, Coal India, ONGC, and Axis Bank; the top losers are Tech Mahindra, Cipla, Sun Pharma, TCS, and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories. In terms of sectors, the PSU Bank and Oil & Gas indices increased by 3% each, while the indices for autos, banks, FMCG, capital goods, metal, power, and real estate increased by 1.2 percent apiece. However, the indices for pharmaceuticals and information technology both fell by 1%. The BSE Smallcap and Midcap indices both saw a 1% increase. The Indian rupee closed unchanged on Wednesday at 83.02 per dollar, down from Tuesday’s close of 83.01.

The Nifty was up 96.70 points, or 0.44 percent, at 21,840 at the closing, while the Sensex was up 277.98 points, or 0.39 percent, at 71,833.17. A little over 1948 shares rose, 1361 shares fell, and 73 shares remained unchanged. In the extremely volatile market, Indian benchmark indices concluded favourably, with Nifty closing above 21,800.
