Free trade deal
An official statement stated on Monday that a free trade deal between India and the four-nation EFTA bloc will assist boost two-way commerce, investment flows, job creation, and economic growth.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with representatives of European Free Trade Association (EFTA) states Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland in Brussels to discuss engagement modalities for working towards a comprehensive Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA).
Sensex, Nifty Rise For The Second Consecutive Day
Indian equities indexes maintained their gains on Monday, rising for the second straight day. The real estate and media industries were the leading gainers in trade. The S&P BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 Indexes finished at their best levels in five months since mid-December 2022.
Asian markets were divided, European markets advanced, and S&P 500 futures rose 0.4%, indicating a rebound from Friday’s decline. The Thai baht rose after pro-democracy parties won the most votes in weekend elections, while the rand rose as South Africa sought to defuse tensions with the United States.
