The Sensex pack’s biggest laggards included Power Grid, Mahindra & Mahindra, JSW Steel, HCL Technologies, Sun Pharma, Nestle, IndusInd Bank, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, and ITC. Benchmark market indices declined on Tuesday as investors grew cautious ahead of two crucial events that will be revealed later this week: the RBI’s monetary policy and the US inflation data. The ongoing withdrawal of foreign investment and the weakening trends in the Asian and European markets also hurt the domestic markets.
Sensex and NSE Nifty50
To end the day at 65,846.50, the 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 106.98 points, or 0.16 percent. It dropped 200.85 points or 0.30 percent over the day to 65,752.63. To finish at 19,570.85, the NSE Nifty fell 26.45 points, or 0.13 percent. High-powered rate-setting panel MPC, led by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, started its three-day meeting on Tuesday to finalise the following bimonthly policy amid predictions of another status quo on the key interest rates.

Tokyo stocks closed higher
In anticipation of US inflation statistics later this week, the yen’s relative depreciation and advances on Wall Street helped Tokyo equities close higher on Tuesday. The more inclusive Topix index increased by 0.34 percent, or 7.80 points, to 2,291.73, while the benchmark Nikkei 225 index grew by 0.38 percent, or 122.73 points, to 32,377.29.
