Oil prices rise after U.S. debt deal, all eyes on OPEC meeting
The world’s largest consumer of oil avoided default on Friday thanks to a deal on the debt ceiling, and focus shifted to an OPEC ministerial meeting at the weekend.
U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude (WTI) increased by 69 cents, or 1%, to $70.79 a barrel, while Brent crude futures increased by 77 cents, or 1%. The first weekly loss for either contract in the previous three weeks was imminent.

In the extremely volatile day on June 2, benchmark indices closed with slight gains. The Nifty was up 46.30 points or 0.25% at 18,534.10 at closing, and the Sensex was up 118.57 points or 0.19% at 62,547.11 at the time. 1333 shares fell, 124 shares were stable, and about 2115 shares went up.
