Top 5 stocks of the day: Shares of Adani Enterprises (down 4.42 per cent), Adani Ports (down 1.98 per cent) and ONGC (down 1.98 per cent) ended as the top losers in the Nifty index. Conversely, shares of Hindustan Unilever (up 1.36 per cent), Asian Paints (up 1.08 per cent) and Tata Motors (up 0.74 per cent) ended as the top gainers in the index. As many as 32 stocks ended with losses while 18 gained in the Nifty index.
Rupee closes marginally higher against US dollar
Rupee gained 0.07 percent from Tuesday’s close of 81.88 to close at 81.82 versus the US dollar. The exchange rate started at 81.77 and fluctuated between 81.76 and 81.86 for its high and low. From its previous finish of 7.094 percent, the yield on the 10-year bond decreased by 8 basis points to 7.014%. Prices and bond yield move in the opposite ways.
