Top 5 Stocks Of The Day: State Bank of India, BPCL, Power Grid Corporation, Coal India and Hindalco Industries are the top gainers on the Nifty, while the biggest losses are Britannia Industries, ITC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank, and Nestle India. Sectors: oil and gas, electricity, information technology, PSU Bank, and real estate, automobile, bank, capital goods, and FMCG down 0.6-2 percent. The BSE smallcap index dropped 0.4 percent while the midcap index was unchanged.

Sensex and NSE Nifty50

The Nifty was down 212.50 points, or 0.97 percent, at 21,718 at the closing, while the Sensex was down 723.57 points, or 1.00 percent, at 71,428.43.A little over 1341 shares rose, 1908 shares fell, and 61 shares remained unchanged. After the RBI maintained the policy rate, Indian benchmark indexes finished lower on February 9, with the Nifty closing below 21,750.

The Bears were able to take advantage of the level 22,000 once more, as the MPC committee’s decision to maintain the status quo caused a strong decline in the private banking and FMCG stocks, which in turn caused a sharp drop in the Index. A rebound attempt was observed in the middle of the session, but another round of selling in the final session sent the Index still down, ending the day at 21,717.95, down 212.55 points.
