Top 5 stocks of the day: Top Nifty gainers included HCL Technologies, JSW Steel, LTIMindtree, Apollo Hospitals, and Infosys; losers included Adani Enterprises, ITC, Adani Ports, Hero MotoCorp, and Britannia Industries. Regarding the sector, the FMCG, oil and gas, and power indices all had a 1% decline, while the healthcare and auto indices saw a 0.5% decline. Conversely, banks, IT, banks, and real estate all had increases of 0.5–1%. The smallcap index dropped 0.4 percent, and the BSE midcap index finished slightly lower.

Sensex and NSE Nifty50

At the closing, the Nifty was up 68.20 points, or 0.33 percent, at 20,969.40, while the Sensex was up 303.91 points, or 0.44 percent, at 69,825.60. A little over 1441 shares rose, 1796 shares fell, and 73 shares remained constant. In the tumultuous day on December 8, Indian benchmark indices concluded with a gain, with Nifty closing at 20,950.

Adani Group stocks saw steep declines

Adani Group stocks saw steep declines on December 8, plunging as much as 6% after recording new highs in the preceding trading sessions. With the NSE Nifty 50 surpassing the crucial 21,000 milestone at 21,006.10 and the Sensex reaching a high of 69,888.33, the leading indices set new lifetime highs. Adani Enterprises, the group’s main company, was down 1.83 percent from the closing price of the previous session, trading at Rs 2,833.6 per share. Following the release of the Hindenburg report, the counter saw a 52-week low of Rs 1,017.45. Since then, it has increased by 278 percent.
