Top 5 stocks of the day: NTPC, ONGC, Tata Consumer Products, Tech Mahindra and UltraTech Cement are the top gainers on the Nifty. The benchmarks recovered from losses thanks to late-hour buying in industry heavyweights like HDFC Bank, ITC, Axis Bank, and ICICI Bank. Among the Nifty 50, M&M suffered the most, falling 2% due to Q2 earnings that fell short of expectations. According to sources, MCX saved the most money in its transaction with TCS, making it the top midcap gainer in the overall market.

Gainers outnumbered losers in the market breadth, with roughly 1,812 shares rising, 1,747 falling, and 141 remaining unchanged. The market bounces back, closing Samvat 2079 at its highest point of the day. The Nifty finished with gains of 30.00 points, or 0.15 percent, at 19,425.30, while the Sensex settled 72.48 points, or 0.11 percent, higher at 64,904.68.

India’s direct tax increased by 21.8%

India’s direct tax receipts, net of refunds, increased by 21.8% from the previous year to Rs10.6 trillion, according to an email statement from the Central Board of Direct Taxes. This tax revenue accounted for 58.2% of the FY24 projected total budget.The corporate income tax and personal income tax saw increases in gross collections of 7.1% and 28.3%, respectively.1.77 trillion rupees in refunds were given out between April 1 and November 9, according to Bloomberg.
