Top 5 stocks of the day: Hindalco Industries, UltraTech Cement, Bajaj Auto, JSW Steel, and Tata Motors are the top gainers on the Nifty, while ONGC, NTPC, Adani Enterprises, UPL, and Adani Ports were the top losers. With the exception of Power and Oil & Gas, all other sectoral indices finished higher, with metal, bank, and auto all seeing gains of one percent. The BSE smallcap and midcap indices saw slight gains at the close.
Sensex and NSE Nifty50
The Nifty was up 213.50 points, or 1.00 percent, at 21,654.80 at the close, while the Sensex was up 701.63 points, or 0.98 percent, at 72,038.43. A little over 1801 shares rose, 1848 shares fell, and 124 shares remained unchanged. On December 27, benchmark indices closed higher for the fourth session in a row, with Nifty closing above 21,600.

Punjab National Bank raised Rs 1,153 crore through Basel-III
According to market sources, state-run Punjab National Bank raised Rs 1,153 crore on December 27 by issuing Basel-III additional Tier-I bonds with an 8.55 percent coupon rate. Punjab National Bank intended to issue the bonds in order to raise up to Rs 3,000 crore. The issue had a greenshoe option worth Rs 2,500 crore in addition to a base size of Rs 500 crore. Companies can raise more money or issue more bonds than the base issue size with a greenshoe option. The bonds have a call option that can be exercised on the fifth anniversary of the deemed date of allotment, or on any anniversary date after that with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approval in advance.
