With the exception of real estate, auto, oil and gas, and electricity, all sectoral indices finished lower by two percent.. The BSE Smallcap and Midcap indices both saw a 2% decline.

Sensex and NSE Nifty50
The Nifty was down 247.10 points, or 1.11 percent, at 21,951.20, and the Sensex was down 790.34 points, or 1.08 percent, at 72,304.88 at the closing. A little over 664 shares rose, 2627 shares fell, and 65 shares remained unchanged. Benchmark indices saw lower closing values on February 28, with the Nifty falling below 22,000 due to sector-wide selling.

The New Zealand currency fell after its central bank reduced its projection for a peak in rates, while the dollar strengthened on Wednesday as investors anticipated a plethora of global inflation data for signals on when central banks may begin loosening policy. The dollar index, which compares the value of the currency to six other currencies, including the euro, increased by 0.3% at 104.20 last week and by 2.8% year to date.
