TRAI orders telcos to provide 30 days’ validity plans to subscribers

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said on Monday that telecom firms must provide vouchers with a 30-day validity. The telecom regulator stated in a release that each telecom service provider must offer at least one Plan Voucher, one Special Tariff Voucher, and one Combo Voucher. If the date of such renewal is not available in a given month, the date of renewal shall be the last date of that month.

A minimum of one Plan Voucher, one Special Tariff Voucher, and one Combo Voucher that are renewed on the same day of each month must also be available from these providers.

The choice was made in response to complaints from customers about the Telecom Service Providers’ vouchers’ 28-day validity period (TSPs). Through the Telecom Tariff (66th and 67th Amendment) Order, 2022, TRAI included subclauses after conducting the necessary consultation procedure.

According to the press release, “30 days vouchers and vouchers renewing on the same day of every month are, among other things, available on their website and are open for subscription.”
