Zee Sony Merger: It has been reported by media networks that the Zee-Sony merger may be called off. Before January 20, Sony is anticipated to send out a notice of termination, as per reports from Bloomberg.
One Month Deadline
Zed and Sony are said to have one month remaining to complete their merger, according to a December report. ZEEL notified the BSE on December 20 that Sony had consented to talk about extending the deadline for the merger. Prior to several obstacles keeping the two organisations on their toes, the $10 billion acquisition could not be concluded. The merger was originally scheduled to occur by the end of 2023.
Regulatory Extension Request
According to regulatory updates, ZEEL requested an extension from Bangla Entertainment Pvt Ltd (BEPL) and Culver Max Entertainment to finalise the proposed merger, which aspires to establish India’s largest media conglomerate. In addition to BEPL, which is a part of the SGC Group, Culver Max Entertainment is an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation (SGC).
