Even if the task is fun, one must be sure that they do it safely to avoid ruining the experience. The path is typically dangerous despite the hills’ seeming peaceful, especially during the monsoon. Here are some safety guidelines on what to look out for and how to stay safe on such a trip.
How to drive a car on the hills safely
Weather check
Make plans in advance! When packing for your trip, make sure to research the type of weather you will be experiencing. Remember that it’s likely going to be rainy and chilly. Ascertain that your wipers are in optimal working order and that you have added enough wiper fluid if it looks like it could rain.
Overtaking in the Hills
It takes extreme caution to overtake on the hills since it is really difficult. The most crucial thing to remember is that you should NEVER try to pass someone in the middle of a turn. Always hold off until the straight sections are bigger and longer. There are often only two lanes on the roads, and only one of them is for you to use.
Keep the tank full
When it gets dark, most petrol stations in hilly places close. Furthermore, you might not even find one during the day if you are in a rural area. Therefore, generally speaking, fill up your tank before leaving to avoid becoming stranded mid-trip.
Headlights and high beam
While it may seem silly, turning on your headlights during the day is a good idea when driving in the hills. You must use your headlights to alert onlookers to the fact that one side of the hill will constantly be in shadow. However, keep in mind that doing so could momentarily dazzle any approaching car in front of you if you flash your high beam squarely at it. To see and to be seen is the whole point!

Drivers tend to undervalue the importance of traffic signs. Road signage in mountainous places tell you everything you need to know about the road ahead. Roads on hillsides are steep, winding, and occasionally hazardous. Because of this, you will never be able to anticipate that the placid-looking turn that lies ahead of you will eventually lead to an unanticipated ascent in such places. However, you will be ready ahead of time if you were alert enough to notice the slanted “road ahead” sign prior to the turn. As a result, pay close attention to road signs and maintain your composure to respond appropriately and on time.
