CBI files an FIR against actress Rhea Chakraborty in Sushant Singh death case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an FIR against actress Rhea Chakraborty for abetting the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Rhea and her brother Showik Chakraborty arrived at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Mumbai on Friday, in connection with a money laundering case related to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

The case was handed over to CBI by the Bihar government after Rajputs father KK Singh and the Bihar police alleged a cover-up by the Mumbai police. They have accused the Mumbai police of destroying evidence and deliberately ignoring leads in the case in an attempt to derail it.

Chakraborty in her statement said that a CBI investigation at this point would be “totally illegal and beyond any known legal principles, affecting the Federal Structure of the Nation”.

On 6 August, a senior agency official said, “CBI has today registered a case related to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput on the request of Bihar Government and further notification from Government of India and taken over the investigation of the case, earlier registered at police station Rajiv Nagar, Patna vide FIR no.241/2020 dated 25-7-2020.”

Earlier, Sushant’s father KK Singh field FIR against Rhea Chakraborty in Patna, charging her with abetment to suicide, theft, wrongful confinement and cheating as well.
