Covid-19: In the past 24 hours, India has reported 18,257 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of active cases in the nation to 1,28,690.
Along with the new cases, 14,553 recoveries and 42 fatalities were reported in India in the previous day.
The number of new cases on Sunday is slightly lower than the number of new cases the day before (18,840).
Kerala, with 3,186 new infections, is the largest contributor to the nation’s most recent fresh caseload, followed by West Bengal (2,968), Maharashtra (2,760), and Tamil Nadu (2,671).
4,29,68,533 persons have recovered from the illness, and the case fatality rate has been reported at 1.20 percent.
The government reports that as of today, 198.76 crore doses of the COVID vaccine have been distributed throughout the nation as part of the COVID-19 vaccination push.
On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 total had reached 20 lakh, on August 23, it reached 30 lakh, on September 5 it reached 40 lakh, and on September 16 it reached 50 lakh. It exceeded the 60 lakh threshold on September 28, the 70 lakh threshold on October 11, the 80 lakh threshold on October 29, the 90 lakh threshold on November 20, and the 1 crore threshold on December 19.
On May 4 and June 23 of last year, the nation reached the depressing two and three crore populations, respectively.
On January 25 of this year, the four-crore threshold was crossed.
The 42 additional deaths include 24 from Kerala, 5 from Maharashtra, 3 each from West Bengal and Chhattisgarh, 2 from Delhi, 1 from each of Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, and Sikkim, and 24 from Kerala.
