Covid-19 update: India’s death toll mounts over 85,000

India’s covid-19 situation continues to worsen as country keeps reporting over 90,000 cases and 1,000 fatalities in a single-day. With a spike of 93,337 cases, the country’s covid tally now has reached at 53,08,015. A total number of 1,247 deaths in last 24 hours has taken the death toll over 85,000 mark which currently stands at 85,619.

Amid the pandemic, the medical oxygen has become an essential public commodity, the Union Home Ministry said while mentioning that any disruption in its supply can severely affect covid-19 situation. It also said that “no restriction” has been imposed in its movement between states.

According to a report of ANI, student of International Institute of Information Technology claim to have developed a bubble helmet’ which could be used as a ventilation device.

Minister of State for Health Ashwini Choubey in Lok Sabha said that a potential vaccine for the coronavirus disease is in making and will most likely be available by the end of first quarter of 2021 if the late stage clinical trials of it succeed. He also said that no advance purchase agreement with the candidates has been signed as of now.

In other news related to covid-19, the Trump administration reversed guidance on Covid-19 testing for a second time, urging those who came in contact with infected people to get tested even if they are not displaying symptoms.
