EV Sales in Delhi: Delhi has maintained its position to be the city with the highest density of electric vehicles. Yesterday, the Government of NCT reported that the capital city achieved a record high EV sales in December 2023. A report mentioned that every one of five vehicle sold in Delhi were electric vehicles in December which is the highest EV sales recorded in any state of India as of now.

On the latest achievement Transport Minister of Delhi, Kailash Gehlot shared on his official X handle that ” “Overall in 2023, Delhi registered a total of 6,57,312 vehicles out of which 73,610 were Electric,” Gahlot said on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday. He also added that March 2023 was the second month to register best sales in terms of EV which contributed about 14.7 per cent of the total sales.
Delhi EV Policy: Details
The Government of NCT Dehi has recently extented its Electric Vehicle Policy by 3 months. Earlier, the EV Policy was due to expire on December 31, 2023. However, now customers will be able to avail the benefits of the EV policy by the end of financial year. After the official discontinuation of current EV policy, the Govt of NCT Delhi will reportedly introduce a new and more contemporary EV policy as it has been already proposed in the state legislative assembly.
Delhi got its first EV policy in 2020, after that the govt. kept extending the same policy repeatedly. The new policy will be officially called EV Policy 2.0 and it will meet more contemporary needs that will promote a larger base of customers to opt for Eletric vehicles instead of a fossil fuel consuming vehicle.
